The kenya national union of teachers chairman may be the man to beat in 2017 elctions that is if we go the way annalists say where they think he should take a political post. One thing about the kalenjin nation is that they have always sidelined the kipsigis and yet they are the ones who are the majority because they can easilly decide and make this man Wilson sossion their king pin,it is interesting to know that sossion was born to humble background in bomet where he started his career as teacher at tenwek high school before joining KNUT.The KNUT Chair horned his leadership skills at Tenwek High School, a school that has produced other leaders like former Chepalungu MP and current Governor Isaac Rutto who by the way should have been crowned a king because of immense contribution he had in the 10 parliament and also he is the one who made wiillaim rutoh be accepted in the wide kipsigis nation as a leader.others include Amb. John Koech and Dennis Chepkwony. There is wild excitement in Kalenjinland that “at last a replacement for” or a match for the politically skillful William Samoei Ruto, the beast of Rift Valley politics, has emerged from the ranks of the fearless KNUT leadership. It maybe so, but its still to early to make a judgement on his intentions.
Sossion has received immense support from his KNUT family of Deputy Secretary Mudzo Nzili and Second National Vice Chair Wycliffe Etole Omuchenyi.
In a meeting with Principals at Wild Waters in Mombasa in June this year, Sossion promised the government ” a battle never seen in history.” He seems to have kept his word with the delivery of the current crippling nationwide teachers’ strike.
What is worth noting is that Sossion has upped his game by taking it to the doorstep of Deputy President William Ruto. In a twitter post to the Deputy President, Sossion bemoans: ”Surely Willy we can drop the laptop scheme and pay the teacher…it makes lots of sense.”
Sossion has always endeared himself with the masses. He seems to have struck a chord with them. He has persistently reminded the government that teachers are not ”slaves.” He recently termed Coast Governer Joho’s decision to sack over 1,000 workers ”another form of neocolonialism.”
Sossion has always fought for what he believes in strongly or maybe what he wants us to believe on. He is quoted saying: ”If people can actually be jailed for fighting for what is rightfully theirs, then God shall surely give us justice.”
